The bible tells us that while all things are permissible, all things are not beneficial. As we find what foods are most beneficial for us (which foods best meet the nutritional needs of the body) and focus on those foods in our diet, we will begin to experience better health and find our ideal weight.
Here are a few guidelines that can be used as a foundation for a benefical “health plan”.
- God designed food to feed our physical bodies - just as His word is the spiritual food that feeds us spiritually. Feeding on spiritual “junk food” will produce ill spiritual health. Feeding on physical “junk food” will produce ill physical health and can add excess weight. A junk food can be classified as a substance that is low in beneficial (or nutritional) components and high in non-nourishing or other harmful components. Another way to look at this principle is “we reap what we sow”.
- Those foods that were in God's original plan (Gen 1:29) provide the highest amount of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and phytonutrients. Nutritional science today is telling us that if we would eat more fruits and vegetables we would be healthier. Because these were the primary foods in God's original diet plan, this does not surprise me. Hunger is a sign that the body needs nutrition. Fighting consistent hunger or uncontrollable food cravings can be a sign that we are not providing the body with the nutrition that it needs. When we eat a diet rich in these optimal, whole foods (and concentrated sources of nutrition like juicing and Barley Green) this constant hunger is replaced with a feeling of satisfaction.

His Yoke is Easy, His Burden is Light

As we begin to make changes in our lives, it seems that there are always opportunities for discouragement. Making dietary & lifestyle changes is no different. If you are desiring to and/or working on making changes towards a healthier lifestyle, I encourage you to rest in the Lord, and seek Him continually. His word will build you up spiritually the same way juicing, Barley Max and eating healthy whole, foods will do for you physically. Spending time in His word, and just spending time with Him are vital to our lives. He will give you the wisdom, knowledge, desire and ability to do everything that you need to do as you continue to pray and seek Him. He is an awesome God!!! He wants for you to be walking in the fullness of the divine health he provided for us in the beginning and again on the cross of Jesus, just as much as (actually, even more than) you desire this for yourself. He has a path for your life . . . as you walk in the steps He has ordered for you -- you will come to the fullness of all He has for you. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. When it feels like the load becomes too heavy, it may be because you are carrying the part that belongs to Him. I believe that making changes in our lifestyle is vital to regaining excellent health. But, I encourage you to find the balance by allowing the Lord to do the work THROUGH you, which will keep you from feeling burdened by all that you desire to do. He knows the way, makes the way available to us, shows us the way and then will lead us every step (even carrying us when it is needed). As we trust in and rely upon Him with every issue in our lives He will make our paths straight & put on ease on those things that would be hard if we were relying on our own strength and abilities. Reach out to Him in prayer, calling upon Him when things feel difficult. He will respond to the need in your life and will make a way when there seems to be no other way. |
